Menopause Symptoms

Every woman has her own unique experience of transition during menopause. Her symptoms may or may not be severe and may differ, however, severe symptoms are recorded in women who experience a sudden onset of menopause over a shorter period of time. Certain unhealthy lifestyle choices or surgeries which involve the removal of ovaries may also cause severe symptoms as well. Perimenopause, Menopause we well as Post Menopause have generally the same symptoms, the most common signs of Menopause are:

Approximately 75% of women experience hot flashes during menopause. Other symptoms of menopause also include:

  • Anxiety

  • Insomnia

  • Depression

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Difficulty in concentrating

  • Short term memory loss

  • Reduces libido

  • Headaches

  • Heart palpitations

  • Difficulty in focusing

  • Skin dryness around the mouth and eyes

  • Frequent urination

  • Frequent UTI

  • Painful joints and muscle stiffness

  • Reduced bone and muscle mass

  • Hair loss

It is important to remember menopause is not a disease it is a process we go through. We can all experience menopause slightly differently, therefore although there are common symptoms, which symptoms you experience, and the severity and or frequency of the symptoms can and does vary between women.​
