Change is the only constant

Hello friends!

Hope you have started feeling the mist in the morning air bringing hints of weather change. How amazingly nature keeps up the cycle of change and creates a wholesome balance around us.


I was reminded of a friend, who owned the Nokia 3310 in 2007- for the purpose of calling, messaging, and FM radio. Then she switched to N79, which now had a 5 MP camera, Wi-Fi technology, GPS navigation, and expandable memory and she used it for pictures, phone calls, messaging, and FM. She moved on to own a Phablet (Phone + tablet) which she used for pictures, phone calls, WhatsApp messages, and FM. Now she owns the latest sleekest Android phone, and she uses it for…. Well, you all know the answers by now.

I asked her why she even bothered to change her gadgets when clearly, she doesn’t use 80-90 % of the functions. She explained that she purchased the phone with the intent of having added ease and simplicity to her life, but while trying to use her full potential (adopting it), she got so overwhelmed with learning new things, that she just gave up. I realized that this lack of usage was not a phone problem, but her being a “technologically challenged” problem and required her to adapt to the change by taking baby steps and constant practice.


As Heraclitus said, “Change is the only constant”. By that, I am advocating being agile and accepting the transformation wholeheartedly. If not, even a caterpillar cannot turn into a beautiful butterfly.


Menopause is one such threshold in a woman’s life, where adopting changes becomes mandatory. One needs to step back, take a bird-eye view and make the necessary alterations to your current lifestyle, for a smooth transition.

For any change, to get its full benefit, one must have:


• Awareness of why the change is happening

• Motivation to accept the change

• Skill to cope with new habits

• Ability to practice

• Reinforcement to sustain the changes

A few changes I would recommend are:
